TWISTWARD

A good road is hard to describe. A map flattens it, a list of numbers says nothing about it, and the video you shot through a helmet only shows the metre in front of you. This turns the recording you already have into the view from above — the whole road, flown end to end over real terrain.

What it does

Open a GPS file from a ride and watch it replayed over satellite imagery and 3D terrain, paced so the camera lingers where the road gets interesting. Publish it and it gets a page anyone can open, an embed for your own site, and a video export sized for YouTube or Reels. Or skip all that and just watch — replaying a file needs no account, and the file never leaves your browser unless you choose to publish it.

Every route carries a twistiness score: how many degrees of heading it changes per kilometre. It is the number this whole thing is named after, and it is why Explore can answer the only question that matters — what is the best road near me.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no subscription, no plan to upsell you to, and no advertising. It exists because these roads are worth showing, and it is cheap to run.

The channel

TWISTWARD is a YouTube channel about riding the twisty ones. The flyovers here started as a way to show a road before riding it on camera, and turned into something worth handing to everyone else.

Where the data comes from

Satellite imagery, terrain, place names and the featured roads all come from elsewhere, and Credits names each of them and the licence it is used under. Your own files stay in your browser until you publish them, and a published ride is trimmed at both ends first so it does not start at your door — what is kept, and how to be rid of it, is in Privacy.
