Using this site means agreeing to what is below. Most of it is what you would assume; the part about music is the part worth reading.
What you publish stays yours
You keep every right you have in the rides you upload. Publishing one gives this site permission to store it, show it, draw it on a map, build a preview picture of it and let people play it — that and nothing more, and only for as long as you leave it up. Delete it and that permission ends with it.
You must have the right to upload what you upload. A GPS trace of your own ride is yours; one taken from somewhere that did not offer it is not.
Music, and why it is yours to answer for
A route can play one of the songs built into this site, or any YouTube video you point it at. Those are two very different things.
The built-in songs are licensed for use here, in the player and in the videos it exports. You can use them without thinking about it, which is the reason they exist.
A YouTube link is not. When you supply one it is played by YouTube's own player, from YouTube, under YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. This site does not host that audio, does not licence it, does not check whether you are entitled to use it, and takes no responsibility for what you choose. Choosing music you have no right to play is your doing and yours to answer for — including anything that follows from it, whether that is a claim from a rights holder, a strike on your channel, or your video being taken down.
The same goes for what you do with an export. A recording made here bakes a built-in song into the file; where you then put that file, and what happens when you do, is yours to judge.
If something here infringes your rights
Write to hello@twistward.com with a link to it and enough to identify the work, and it will be looked at and taken down if the complaint holds. Repeatedly publishing other people's material is grounds for losing the account.
What you may not do
Publish someone else's ride as your own, upload anything unlawful, use this to harass anybody, try to break it or take it down, or scrape it wholesale. Routes marked private or unlisted are not yours to pass around.
No promises about uptime
This is free, run by one person, and offered as it is. It may break, lose a thing, or stop. Keep your original files — the ones you uploaded are a copy, not a backup, and nothing here should be relied on as the only place a ride exists. Nothing on this site is navigational advice: a road that looks inviting from above may be shut, unpaved or beyond you, and riding it is your decision alone.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, from your settings. An account may be closed from this end for breaking any of the above. These terms may change; the page will say so when they do, and continuing to use the site is how you accept the change.
